Chocolate Chip Cookies

Chocolate chip cookies. That’s where Milk & Honey began.

I remember standing on a stool in my PaPa David’s kitchen, having the time of my life as he let my sisters and I add all of the ingredients and eat way more cookie dough than my mom ever would have allowed. I couldn’t have been more than three years old. Baking is my earliest memory, and it has always signified comfort, togetherness, and fun.

Over the years, I kept baking, with my mom, my grandmas, and my papa. I remember asking my mom for an Easy Bake Oven for years, and she was always really confused by that request. “You know how to use the real oven, why don’t you just do that?” I would spend hours watching cake videos and shows on the Food Network. Baking was woven into my childhood, and eventually, my dreams of a career.

Milk & Honey is about so much more than creaming together butter and sugar and throwing some buttercream on a cake. It’s about the feelings they evoke - of wonder, closeness, and connection. It’s choosing to honor others and lift them up by simply giving them a cupcake to remind them of your love. I mean, we began with chocolate chip cookies of all things. Simple, and at first glance, they’re nothing remarkable. But bring a dozen to a friend, or try one (or four) on a particularly bad day, and that’ll change your mind.

Milk & Honey is just a means of loving people - and we think the best way to do that is with baking…starting with chocolate chip cookies.
